Street Legal McLaren P1 GTR by Canay Design

The McLaren P1 GTR is probably the most radical hypercar ever created, unfortunately it's not street legal. Several companies already announced that can transform the P1 GTR in a street legal car but until that will become a reality, our friend Enes Canay made a render for McLaren Talk on how a street friendly McLaren P1 GTR might look.

The GTR utilizes a modified version of the P1’s twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-8 and electric motor, thus enjoying an 83-hp advantage over its road-legal sibling. McLaren coaxes an extra 62 ponies from the V-8 and extracts another 20 horsepower from the electric motor, landing just shy of 1000 horsepower (986, to be precise).

McLaren also stripped 110 pounds from the P1’s body, mostly by chucking anything related to “public highway use.” We take that to mean airbags as well as sound-deadening materials and some interior trim. The P1’s glass roof panel and engine cover are replaced by carbon-fiber pieces, and the side windows are polycarbonate with a racy little sliding window on the driver’s side.
